TOUR CODE: BKK1DCLSO
An evening of razzle-dazzle and outrageous frocks at the Calypso Cabaret.
Duration of tour: 1 hr
air conditioned vehicles
The transvestite cabaret show has been a fixture on the entertainment scene in Bangkok for several years. Calypso has been razzle-dazzling since 1987 and remains a favourite, with changing routines to keep things fresh. Whilst the show changes from time to time, there is a basic formula that guarantees there will be traditional songs included in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, some high-camp western ballads, a little Thai culture and anything that demands feather boas and over-the-top outfits a la Carmen Miranda. Kaleidoscopic colours and glamour emanate from the stage, whilst the humour and cheekiness is never offensive. The performance is suitable and entertaining for all ages. Entrance includes a soft drink.
Includes
Entrance to Calypso Cabaret with a coupon for one soft drink.
Please note:
Voucher should be exchanged at the Calypso counter at the entrance of the theatre. Seating in the theatre is arranged at tables, with up to five guests per table.

Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre....Top page
TOUR CODE: BKK1DJOEP

Be enamoured at a night out at the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre.
Duration of tour: 1 hr 10 mins
air conditioned vehicles
Hun Lakorn Lek is the disappearing art of traditional Thai puppetry. The basis of the theatrical show is 'Khon', the classic courtly Thai masked dance, that draws on episodes from the epic Ramayana for inspiration. Several forms of artistic expression are involved to make Hun Lakorn Lek come to life - crafting of the puppets, the masks and costumes, music, the backdrop and not least the art of the puppeteer. Although the puppets are not large, the true skill comes in the manipulation of its movements that requires three puppeteers per one model acting in unison - a skill that takes several years to perfect. This allows the puppets to appear so life-like, charming and graceful, as though they were miniature human performers. For those arriving by 19:00 it is possible to see a 20 minute documentary presentation about the history and making of the Joe Louis puppet troupe.
Includes
Entrance to the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre show.
Please note:
The Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre is located in the Suan Lum Night Bazaar. This can easily be reached by BTS underground train, alighting at Lumphini station and following the signs to the Night Bazaar. Your hotel reception or concierge can also write directions in Thai for taxi drivers. You can take advantage of this location to combine your visit to the show with souvenir shopping in the large Night Bazaar, that also offers a selection of restaurants and a beer garden featuring Thai and international snack foods.

The image had been hidden under a layer of stucco, until it was accidently dropped and broken in 1957. Continue with a visit to Vimanmek Palace, which was built for Rama V in 1868. This is the largest building in golden teak to be found anywhere. The palace was originally located on Koh Si Chang, an island in the Gulf of Thailand, 105 km south of Bangkok. It was taken apart and moved to Bangkok in 1910 and is one of the most charming of all the Thai palaces. Finally visit Wat Benchamabhopit, also known as the 'Marble Temple'. It is the last royal temple to be constructed in Bangkok, the architect being a half-brother of King Rama V. Carrara marble is the main building material and the design has been much copied around the country.
